Halloween Fun!

Malachi has decided that his favorite holiday is Halloween...until the next holiday rolls around! This Halloween he was really into dressing up. He first started with wanting to be batman, then he decided he wanted black spiderman. After 3 weeks of begging for a black spiderman costume we gave in. Keep in mind that he also has a bumblebee transformer costume that he got for his birthday. Well, this year for Aelia's costume we borrowed this scarecrow costume from my sister, Jenny. Everyone thought she was a witch but that's ok. Anyways, Aelia HATED wearing her costume and Malachi couldn't decide which one to wear. Luckily we went trick-or-treating twice so he was able to wear them both. Lucky him!!!

I also decided we really weren't made for the cold (see post below) when it came time to put costumes on and we had to layer. It was REALLY hard to get costumes on over sweatsuits and such. Man, it was a lot easier dressing up in Houston...except for the whole roasting to death if the costume was too warm!! Enjoy the pics!!!

Not Made For the Cold!!!

I've been wondering lately if we would ever acclimate to the cold dry Wyoming weather. Well, yesterday I learned that my children were definitely not made for the cold. This is how Malachi dressed himself yesterday morning.

And this is what it looked like outside!!

Here is just an added bonus picture of the princess!

I made it!

So, I have been working out for about 4 years now and got into running about 2 years ago. I have been wanting to run a race, but have chickened out whenever one has come up. Well, Amasa has a co-worker who wanted to run this race in Pleasant Grove, Utah and she asked him to run with her and he asked me (if that makes sense!! haha). Anyways, so this past weekend we ran in the Pi Mi 5k run. It was actually a lot of fun...in hindsight!!! I am actually very proud of myself. I set two goals and met both of them. One was that I would finish in less than an hour and I made it in 39:45. The other was that I wouldn't finish last and in the women under 40 division I was 46 out of 58. I know it isn't the best time but it is good for me and it is a start. My sister-in-law now wants me to run a half marathon with her this spring. YIKES!! Think I can do it?

Finally...an update..and lots of pictures

Ok, so I finally decided to update the blog and add a ton of pictures. In the middle of July, I went to YW camp...actually I was camp director to be more specific. It was a lot of fun and went really well...I wish I was going to be around next year to do it all again.

This is what I did alot of...stand around with papers pretending to know what was going on!!

I also spent a lot of time with a microphone in my hand.

At Camp Edgewood they have what is called the COPE course (COPE stand for Challenging Outdoor Personal Experience). So they have this really tall pole that you climb and then jump off of...it is called the leap of faith. You are supposed to jump out and hit a bell (I am not that brave). But as you can see I did make it to the top and I did jump (well, I technically "leaned" off!!).

There is also a rock wall...here I am at the bottom.

And here I am at the top!

Here is our ward...I will miss them all so much.

Aelia's 2nd birthday was a few days after I got home from camp. Excuse the pj's, McDonald's food, and store bought cupcakes but I had a bad case of the flu that week.

Malachi loves birthdays...he doesn't car who's it is.

The silly girl wouldn't hold her cupcake so this is how she ate the whole thing!

This was on our move back to WY. The kids did a lot of movie watching.

Aelia in one of the hotels on the drive...she wakes up with quite the hair do in the morning. We call it her lion's mane.

My boy's cheesin' it up for a pic.

A few days after we got to WY we drove to Lagoon in UT and camped. This is Malachi with his cousin Dailen on one of the rides.

Malachi and Aelia really enjoyed riding the boats together!

This is at Independence Rock on our way to Newcastle for my aunt's funeral.

She had a lot of fun in the water!

My niece, Katy, and I at a cookie and punch social after the funeral.

Malachi had fun climbing on the porch railing...the little monkey!

I had to throw this one in for fun...a beautiful Fort Bridger sunset. The sun was actually blood red...it just didn't show up like that in the picture.

Well, I promise I'll start blogging more often...hopefully I will remember to start using my camera more often too.

Moving, Moving, Moving

I've been pretty behind in blogging. A few weeks ago, I had YW camp. I was the Stake Camp Director (I'll post more about that with pics later). And now we are moving in two weeks. Back to Wyoming we go. So, when the craziness is over, I'll try to blog more about what's happening in our world.

4th of July Weekend FUN!!!

Happy 4th of July!!!

Amasa had Friday off for the 4th weekend so we decided to go camping. We left Thursday afternoon for Huntsville State Park and we camped until Saturday. We had a lot of fun. Malachi's favorite part was "sleeping in the tent". Aelia had fun getting dirty!!! This was our first time going to Huntsville State Park and there is quite a bit to do. Thursday evening after we got camp set up and ate dinner, we went fishing. Malachi caught his first fish...well, Amasa caught it and Malachi reeled it in!! I caught a little fish as well.
Friday we went on a 3 mile hike in the morning and went swimming in the early afternoon and early evening. We spent a lot of time in the lake as it was so hot. I think the high for that day was 103 degrees. YIKES!! Malachi has become a little fish. He swims so well with his floatie swimsuit on. He swam out to a pier and was climbing onto it and jumping off into the 10 ft. deep water. He really enjoyed it.
The one thing that I really hate about camping is the "wildlife" and we saw a lot!! Friday night as I was headed to the bathrooms, a snake crossed my path. Also Friday night an armadillo wandered into our camp. Amasa tried to herd it back into the bushes so that it wouldn't go near the tent and scare the kids but it ended up scaring the armadillo so much that it hit the side of the tent and proceeded to scratch it. Malachi loves to tell the story about the "arminjello" who scratched the tent!!
We came home Saturday morning and were just too tired to do anything else for the 4th so we went to Kroger and got some snacks and went home and watched movies. FUN!!! Amasa and I also watched the Freedom Over Texas fireworks display on T.V. We have gotten really boring in our old age!! HAHA!!

A day at the Beach!

We went to Galveston yesterday. It was our first time there since Hurricane Ike last year and we enjoyed the day very much. We packed a picnic lunch (which the gulls attacked as soon as they caught site of food!) and enjoyed our day of sand and sun. Aelia was pretty disgusted with the sand at first but soon got used to it and really enjoyed digging with her shovels and helping Amasa build a sandcastle. She was pretty funny with the water. She would start to walk in but as soon as she saw a wave, she would run from it shouting, "OH NO, OH NO". It was pretty entertaining to watch. Malachi also thoroughly enjoyed the day. He was pretty sad when it was time to go home...but after 4 hours in the sun, I thought it was time to go.

Long Time, No Blog

Well, things in the Mecham world are going well. We put our house one the market in preparation for moving to Wyoming. We've had one offer so far but they low-balled us so it was a no go. Malachi finished school for the year and is enjoying his summer vacation. He just turned 4 so we had a party for him and we celebrated Aelia's with it. I decided that a birthday party 3 weeks before we move just wasn't going to happen. We'll celebrate her actual birthday when it rolls around with a cake, dinner, and a few presents as a family. We also went to San Antonio for a little vacation (and to attend a wedding) at the end of May. Here are some pictures from all of our fun. Kind of out of order but oh well (still getting used to the blogging process).

Malachi got spoiled rotten with all of his presents.

Aelia got this microphone from Kelli and Alexa and it is the only thing she wanted to play with. She was even seranading people with her lovely voice.

Daddy did an excellent job cutting the ice cream cake.

This was Malachi's birthday party on his last day of school. They do birthday muffins instead of cake.
This was in San Antonio. The hotel we stayed in had 2 pools (indoor and out) and 3 hot tubs...so fun!!
This is from Sea World. If you ever have the opportunity to feed and pet a dolphin DO IT!! It was amazing.
